Orette Declares For Delta South Senate Seat, Prioritises Constituents

A family medicine physician based in Texas, Dr Austin Orette, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 National Assembly election for the Delta South Senatorial District.

Orette made his decision public in a statement to LEADERSHIP Sunday in Abuja, stressing that his entry into politics is driven by the need to reposition governance as a contest of ideas capable of delivering sustainable development.

“Our politics should be a battle of ideas that will move our people and nation forward. Great nations utilise ideas to empower their people.

“For every child not educated, there is an idea that was not implemented. For every unemployed youth, there is an idea that was never taken. For every elderly person living in poverty, it represents an idea that was abandoned,” he said.

He stressed that Nigeria’s persistent challenges, including poor electricity supply, are largely a consequence of leadership failure and lack of innovative thinking.

“No modern society can function without electrical power. I want to participate in the contest of ideas that will solve our perennial problems.

I humbly ask the people of Delta South to join me in this quest. I will represent them well and serve as a guidepost for their aspirations,” Orette added.

He further assured individuals and groups already working towards his senatorial ambition that he remains fully committed to contesting the 2027 election.

“I am running because I want to deploy my skills to create opportunities for my people,” he stated.

According to the medical expert, his ambition aims to build an enlightened citizenry equipped to address the district’s developmental challenges.

“Leadership in Nigeria has always viewed the people as the problem. I see the people as the solution. When properly equipped, the people will provide answers to the myriad problems confronting the country,” he said.

Orette also noted that citizens must recognise their stake in the nation’s future, insisting that the electorate would ultimately reject underperforming leaders.

“The people will reject the current office holders when they understand that the same approaches are being repeated with no new results.”

He identified education, healthcare, legal reforms, and active citizenship as critical pillars for achieving concrete development, both in Delta South and across Nigeria.
