The Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government and Ogun State Coordinator of the Tinubu Support Organisation (TSO), Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, says the group is targeting at least one million votes for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid, as well as support for Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, in the 2027 elections.

Oyegbola-Sodipo, who lamented voter apathy in the state, said the group, with over 50,000 registered members, had put plans in place to boost grassroots mobilisation and increase votes from about 400,000 recorded in 2023 to at least one million in 2027.

He made this known on Saturday at a meeting held in Akomoje, Abeokuta, with TSO coordinators from the 20 local government areas of the state.

He said the meeting was convened to brief coordinators and encourage them to intensify efforts towards securing victory for President Tinubu, Senator Adeola and Governor Dapo Abiodun in the 2027 elections.

Oyegbola-Sodipo said the president’s economic reforms had begun to position the country for growth and recovery, adding that he deserved re-election.

“The re-election bid of our President Bola Tinubu is already 50 per cent achieved due to his governance record.

“The same applies to Senator Solomon Adeola, who has been positioned as the party’s governorship candidate based on his track record.

“However, we face voter apathy. In the 2023 presidential election, we recorded about 400,000 votes, representing roughly 11 per cent of registered voters. This must change in 2027, and that is why we are targeting at least one million votes,” he said.

He said the target could be achieved through mobilisation across the state’s 236 wards, with a minimum of 2,000 votes expected from each ward.

“We must remain united and committed, moving from neighbourhood to neighbourhood and house to house to mobilise support for the APC. We must ensure we obtain our voter cards and use them to return the party to power in 2027,” he added.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to Governor Abiodun on Youth Affairs, Olamide Lawal, urged young people to play a central role in mobilisation efforts ahead of the elections.

Lawal, who described youths as about 65 per cent of the population, said they should be at the forefront of efforts to secure victory for President Tinubu, Senator Adeola and other APC candidates.

He added that while youths were willing to contribute to the party’s success, party leaders should also reciprocate by including them in governance.

He commended Oyegbola-Sodipo for supporting youth involvement and urged other political actors in the state to create opportunities for young people to contribute to development.
