Odo-Eri Abduction: Dr. Akure Calls for Urgent Security Intervention

Dr. Toyosi Akure has called for improved security across the country, urging government at all levels to take immediate action following the attack on Odo Eri community.

Akure made the call on Thursday in a statement, expressing concern over the increasing spate of insecurity and its impact on rural communities.

He described the attack on Odo Eri in Yagba West, which occurred on Wednesday, as unfortunate and unacceptable, noting that the safety of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of government.

According to him, the incident underscores the urgent need for coordinated and proactive security measures to prevent further loss of lives.

“We cannot continue to treat issues of security with levity. The attack on Odo Eri is a clear signal that more needs to be done to protect our people,” he said.

Akure charged the Federal, State and Local Governments to rise to the occasion by strengthening security architecture and ensuring swift response to distress calls.

He also called on security agencies to intensify intelligence gathering and community engagement as part of efforts to curb criminal activities.

The house of assembly hopeful further urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing timely and useful information.

Akure emphasised the importance of synergy among all stakeholders, including traditional institutions and community leaders, in addressing security challenges.

He extended his sympathies to families of victims affected by the attack and prayed for the repose of the souls of those who have lost their lives to bandit attacks in recent years.
