Nigerians can’t endure another 4 years of Tinubu, says Dino Melaye

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Dino Melaye, has said Nigerians are unwilling to endure another four years under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the current government as ineffective and disconnected from the people’s needs.

Mr Melaye made the remarks in a post on his X handle, where he criticised the administration’s performance and argued that a second term for Tinubu would be detrimental to the country.

According to the former Kogi West senator, the issue of Tinubu’s re-election has gone beyond political preference and has become a matter of national survival.

“Tinubu’s second term is no longer about interest but existential. Nigerians cannot afford another four years of a miserable, corrupt, reckless, incompetent and prodigal government,” he wrote.

The ADC stalwart also accused the president of politicising issues affecting citizens and undermining democratic principles.

Mr Melaye further alleged that Tinubu was targeting political opponents, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

“Tinubu is playing politics with the lives of Nigerians, undermining democracy and Gov. Seyi Makinde,” he stated.

His comments come amid increasing political realignments and early positioning by political parties and key actors ahead of the 2027 general elections.

President Tinubu secured the presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress and went on to win the 2023 presidential election.

Since assuming office, his administration has defended its economic reforms as necessary measures aimed at stabilising the economy and laying the foundation for long-term growth.

However, opposition politicians have continued to criticise the government over rising living costs, inflation and other economic challenges facing Nigerians.
