Nigeria, Burkina Faso Set To Clash In WAFU Tourney Opener, Flamingos Head To Bamako

Nigeria as defending champions will face Burkina Faso in their opening fixture at the upcoming WAFU B U-17 Championship in Accra, Ghana.

The Nigerian team also known as the Golden Eaglets defeated same opponent 2-1 in the final of the competition two years ago.

Nigeria and Burkina Faso will clash in the Group B fixture at the University of Ghana stadium on Thursday, May 16, 2024.

The Eaglets will take on Togo in their second game at the same ground on Sunday, May 19.

Their last group game against Togo is scheduled for the Accra Stadium on Wednesday, May 22.

Hosts Ghana will face Cote d’Ivoire in the opening fixture of the competition.

The finalists will represent the zone at the U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s women U17 counterpart will on Wednesday head to Bamako, Mali, to face Burkina Faso in a 2024 FIFA U17 qualifier against Burkina Faso.

The encounter is scheduled for May 11.
