Niger ADC produces governorship candidate, others

The Niger State chapter of the African Democratic Congress, has produced Dr Mohammed Kpautagi as its governorship candidate in the 2027 general elections.

Kpautagi was declared the winner after defeating his opponent, Alhaji Idrisu Makanta, in 24 of the state’s 25 local government areas.

The Niger State Returning Officer and Secretary of the ADC Primary Election Committee, Ibrahim Mohammed, made the announcement on Tuesday during the official declaration of the primary election results for the aspirants into the Governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly elections in Minna.

Kpautagi secured a total of 67,924 votes while his opponent, Usman, scored 27,769 votes across the 25 local government areas of the state.

The returning officer also announced the winners of the three senatorial seats of the ADC primary elections including Niger North, Alhaji Shehu Mohammed, Niger East  Muktar Ahmed who was unopposed while the Niger South was Baba Agaie a former deputy leader of the house of representatives.

Similarly, the winners of the Niger state federal House of Representatives of the APC primary elections were: Bida/Gbako/ Katcha, Mohammed Abubakar, Tafa/Gurara/ Suleja, Ado Abubakar,

Mashegu/Wushishi/Kontagora/Mariga Mohammed Abubakar, Lavun/Edati/Mokwa, Abubakar Takuma and Magama/Rijau Mohammed Abdullahi.

Others were Lapai/Agaie, Shitu Adamu, Evuti, Agwara/Borgu, Jailani Inuwa, Chanchaga Doctor Alhaji Mohammed,  Bosso/Paikoro, Abdulmali Kabir and Shiroro/Munya/Rafi, Ismaila Ibrahim.

Also, the Niger state house of assembly members representing the 25 local government areas of Niger state include Nasiru Waziri for Kontagora 1, Bawa Joshua for Munya, Auta Solomon for Tafa, Nuhu Ibrahim for Gurara, Abdullahi Imam for Wushishi, Isah Mohammed for Edati, Abubakar Garba Mohammed for Suleja, Mairogo Hamisu for Borgu, Idris Ibrahim for Shiroro and Riyanu Suleiman for Kontagora 2.

Others are: Abdulwahid Ahmed for Chanchaga, Shehu Marfa for Mariga, Mohammed Sani for Mokwa, Yusuf Baba for Lavun, Mohammed Umar for Katcha, Adamu Wonigi for Agaie, while Haruna Labaran was for Rafi local government, Bosso LGA, Yusuf Aliyu, Bida 1, Baba Abubakar and Bida two, Mustapha Shuaib, respectively.

Declaring the results, the state returning officer, Mohammed, announced all the candidates as winners of their respective positions, having met the requirements of the party constitution and guidelines for the elective offices.
