A FATHER has blasted his daughter’s building company after noticing bizarre eyesores on the side of her home.
Tom Eriksen claimed the house, in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, around 30 miles north of Charleston, looked like it was covered in what he described as “pimples.”

Eriksen’s daughter purchased the newly built house in 2022.
The property was part of a brand new subdivision named Cypress Reserve, and his daughter was one of the first people to purchase and move into the community.
A problem arose when Eriksen, who said he had spent four decades working in the construction industry, visited the home on a sunny day, according to CBS affiliate WCSC-TV.
“When I first looked at the house in the summer, the sun hits the side of the house and the nails on the sheathing aren’t nailed all the way in so the vinyl expands and contracts and when the sun hits it,” he said.
“It looks like pimples all over,” he added.
The homes and community were built by Lennar Corporation.
Eriksen said he contacted the Florida-based construction company right away to raise his issue.
The father then claimed that the company refused to help.
“Their super came out here, looked at the house,” Eriksen recalled.
“He says, ‘Yeah, but it’s not a manufacturer’s problem.’ I said, ‘It’s not a manufacturer’s problem? You installed it wrong. You’ve got to correct it. It looks terrible.’
“And they say, ‘No, we’re not going to do anything with it.’”
‘NOT A GOOD OUTLOOK’
The father alleged that he had reached out to Lennar Corporation on several occasions.
Eriksen complained about how often he noticed the supposed issue on the property.
“I see it every time I drive up to the house,” Eriksen said.
“This is like the whole house — sides, back, front.”
The father said there were around 800 homes in the subdivision and he called on the company to solve the issue before more homes were filled.
How to handle home building drama
Homeowners should know their rights when dealing with building drama.
Contractors must abide by certain standards when building or renovating a home.
Standards can be checked by home inspectors, who will report any unsightly issues.
It’s important for inspectors and homeowners to photograph and document issues before approaching a builder.
Homeowners are also encouraged to review the contract they signed with the builders to see what they aren’t liable for.
After preparing your information, meet with the contractor to come up with a plan of action.
If the contractor reacts poorly, homeowners may want to consider hiring a lawyer.
However, he said he hadn’t heard back.
“Start servicing at least the first people that moved here,” he told the outlet.
“She was one of the first buyers before anyone came in and you’re not servicing them or taking care of your problems.
“It’s not a good outlook for the other families.”
A home inspector who worked with the building company also slammed them in an interview with the station.
Robert Knowles, who has been inspecting homes for decades, said builders should know they’re liable for all repairs in the first year.
“You have to comply with the code requirements,” he said, citing South Carolina law.
“The builder is legally required to fix anything that goes wrong with your house that is related to a code.”
“If you bring a code violation to a builder’s attention, he needs to repair that.”
According to Knowles, there’s been an uptick in code violations.
