President Bola Tinubu has said he will not be deterred by insecurity in the country, insisting he remains committed to seeking a second term in office despite ongoing challenges.

Speaking on the issue, the president suggested that political opponents are attempting to exploit the country’s security situation to undermine his leadership.
“My enemies want to use insecurity in the country to get rid of me, but I’m a stubborn politician who refuses to go, and I will campaign for my second term,” Tinubu said.
His comments come amid continued concerns over security across parts of Nigeria. The remarks have also reignited discussions about Tinubu’s past stance on security before becoming president. As an opposition figure, he was a vocal critic of previous administrations, particularly on their response to insecurity.

He was also a supporter of the Bring Back Our Girls campaign, which gained international attention following the 2014 abduction of schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State. The Chibok incident took place in the home state of Vice President Kashim Shettima, adding political context to ongoing debates.
