The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State has adopted Mustapha Sule Lamido, son of former governor Sule Lamido, as its consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

The motion for his adoption was moved by Aminu Taura, a former Secretary to the State Government, and seconded by Wada Abubakar Dokaji.
The process was supervised by the PDP State Chairman, Babandi Ibrahim, and ratified through a voice vote by party members.
Lamido, who was the PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 election, lost to the incumbent governor, Umar Namadi of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who secured 618,449 votes.
Lamido polled 368,726 votes, while Ibrahim Ringim of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) received 37,156 votes.

Speaking after the endorsement, Lamido called on party members to remain united ahead of the election and urged them to work towards strengthening the party’s position in the state.
