A PREGNANT mother has been forced to sleep in her car with her child as she searches for emergency housing following their abrupt eviction.
Morgan Hartman from Nashville moved into her new home in Antioch in July with her four-year-old child.
However, now at nine months pregnant she is homeless after her reports of mold rendered the home uninhabitable days before Christmas.
Despite first noticing the mold just a few weeks after moving in, it has taken until now for the property management company, Pure, to take action.

“I’m being rendered homeless three days before Christmas with my 4-year-old and a baby coming any second,” Hartman told WSMV.
“I’ve slept in my car some nights. I’ve been to several different hotels, I’m not just staying in the same one.”
The mold spores have also caused Hartman and her child to develop health issues including infections.
“All of my property has just been permeated with mold spores,” she added.
“I’ve been on the phone with Vanderbilt about my pregnancy and illness that I’m facing from all of this.
“It’s hard to put into words the stress that this added. I’m a high-risk pregnancy, so I’m just as likely to go in labor right this very second as I am anytime in the next four weeks.”
Hartman was given a two-week notice to vacate her home even though her lease agreement gives tenants a 45-day notice for early termination.
In addition to this, the lease says tenants would be accommodated up to 1.5 months of rent.
However, Pure has allegedly only agreed to waive December’s rent and has refused to pay for her hotel stays.
Hartman is on unpaid maternity leave and so has no income to show future landlords and her attempts at securing emergency shelter have been fruitless.
“They’re not even willing to reimburse hotel expenses. They’ve just given me a two-week notice to vacate and left it at that,” Hartman said
“They gave me this deadline, and it just felt like a very cruel joke knowing that three days before Christmas I’d be rendered homeless with no physical ability to move my things, no funding to move my things, no current income on an unpaid maternity leave,” she told News Channel 5.
With nowhere left to turn to for help, Hartman has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money.
In the description, she accused Pure of “negligence and lack of basic human decency.”
She noted that she has a lawyer to help take on her alleged case against the property management company.
“However, those things take time. And time isn’t something I necessarily have,” she said.
“I have an infant coming, a 4-year-old, and pets who need a home to return to.
“Not only that, but I’ll need to replace so much of our furniture, my mattress, clothes, toys, etc. given the mold infestation.”
Hartman has hired Attorney Megan Geer at Collins Legal who said Pure’s “lack of action and complete disregard for [Hartman] and her situation. It’s incomprehensible.
“They failed to do anything when she reported it initially and put her in this position.”
At the time of writing, $14,166 has been raised of the $15,000 target.
