It’s impossible for NDC website to register 10million users in 24 hours – Reno Omokri

Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has questioned claims that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) registered 10 million members within 24 hours.

The former presidential media aide said such a feat is not feasible with current technological infrastructure.

The newly formed party had claimed to have registered 10 million members within 24 hours after former presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso joined the party.

His words: “It is technologically impossible for the Nigeria Democratic Congress website, as presently constituted, to register 10 million members in 24 hours.

“In fact, no single website in Africa has the capability to register 10 million distinct, data-intensive users within 24 hours.

“Registering that number of people in 24 hours requires extremely intensive server capacity, especially when processing biometric, biodata, or biographic information.”

He compared the claim with global tech platforms, noting that even ChatGPT, he said, took 40 days to reach 10 million users.

He added that X (formerly Twitter) has never recorded 10 million new users in 24 hours. Omokri said only Threads achieved similar growth due to integration with existing platforms.

“About the only website on Earth ever to reach 10 million registered users in 24 hours or less is Threads, and they only did so because it is owned by Meta, which automatically integrated users who were already registered on Instagram and Facebook,” he said.

He advised political parties to be cautious in making public claims.

“Perhaps political parties can be more cautious in their claims if they want to be taken seriously by the public,” he said.
