Police officers said two vehicles were involved in the smash in Ramle and three people were injured.

The area was cordoned off by armed cops.

Ben-Gvir was in the city near Tel Aviv, visiting the site of a suspected stabbing attack, when the car he was travelling in flipped over.

The national security minister was said to be conscious and in good condition, but was taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Dramatic pictures from the scene showed his mangled car after it was flipped upside down.

His black car lay on its roof next to a white car with a destroyed bumper.

Footage from the scene showed crowds and cops gathered around the carnage, as witnesses made phone calls and blue and red lights flashed in police cars.

The hardline politician, a controversial member of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s emergency government, was leaving the scene of a stabbing attack in Ramle when the crash occurred.

An 18-year-old woman was seriously injured in the attack, which has been described by Israeli officials as a terror incident.

Israeli emergency service Magen David Adom declared the “terrorist was neutralised” following the stabbing.

Ben-Gvir recently called for Israel to launch a full-scale military attack on Iran after Tehran launched a 300-drone and missile attack on Israel earlier this month – and has a history of convictions related to support for terrorism and anti-Arab rhetoric.

He has been convicted of incitement to racism, destroying property, possessing a “terror” organisation’s propaganda material, and supporting a “terror” organisation, Aljazeera reports.

The politician has also advocated for Palestinians to be moved from Gaza and supported calls for Jewish settlements to be reestablished in the enclave.
