Ahlexandria (@HoboAhle) lived in a Honda Civic with her partner, Jonathan, and she shared an unconventional tactic to heat a vehicle.

In the video, Ahlexandria mentioned that drivers could use rocks to heat up their sleeping bags.

“To stay a little bit warmer in your sleeping bag you can do things like heat a water bottle or a couple of rocks and put them at the bottom of your sleeping bag,” Ahlexandria said.

She prefaced that she did not do this technique herself as she thought it did not last all night.

For car dwellers looking to use and try this technique for themselves, the method is simple.

The first step is to find a large flat stone and heat it up to the same temperature as scalding hot tap water, according to Outdoor Life magazine.

Car dwellers can then cover the stone in a tough cloth or clothes and place it in a bed or sleeping bag.

“The heat will soak into your cold bedding and you’ll drift off to a snug night of slumber,” per Outdoor Life.

“I’ve had rocks remain warm as long as seven hours this way.”

The magazine has also noted that there could be dangers with this method if it is not conducted properly.

Rocks used must be from a high and dry area and not from a wet area like a river or stream.

These rocks could have trapped moisture inside which could cause the stone to explode when they are heated.

In Ahlexandria’s video, she also explained how she uses reflective window covers to conserve heat.

She noted that the covers keep the cold out and also reflect body heat back into the car.

“Even this morning when you like open it like this to kind of see like what’s going on outside, you can feel the cold like rushing in almost immediately,” she said.
