He’s not returning to Barca – Ronald Koeman names clubs Messi could join

Former Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has named clubs Lionel Messi will be playing for next season.

Koeman suggested that the departure of Sergio Busquets and the imminent exit of Jordi Alba, two friends of Messi, means that the Argentine may be heading elsewhere.

The future of the football icon is up in the air following his reported decision to leave PSG at the end of the season.

The 2022 World Cup winner has been linked with a return to his boyhood club. He left the Blaugrana in 2021.

However, Koeman said the Argentine is not returning to Camp Nou.

“It surprises me to see how Barcelona are going to renovate their stadium, how they just keep going while being in so much debt,” he told Dutch ESPN.

“I don’t expect Messi to return to Barcelona. Busquets will leave, Jordi Alba isn’t certain to stay too and these three are close friends. It wouldn’t surprise me if they would leave for Miami or Saudi Arabia together.”
