According to the Governor, he is comfortable in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and some issues happening in the country require a bi-partisan approach.

Naija News reports that Governor Makinde made the disclosure while speaking with newsmen after meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday.

Asked by journalists if he’s also considering joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Makinde declared that he’s comfortable with the PDP.

“I am comfortable in the PDP,” he stated.

The Governor maintained that some issues of national interest go beyond party affiliation, hinting that his discussions with the President were not about politics.

“We may have issues in this country where you need a bipartisan approach, where there won’t be an issue of APC talking alone or PDP talking alone; where we will have to look at what is the best foot forward in the interest of our nation. So, when you get to that junction, you need everybody on board,”

Governor Makinde clarified that the meeting focused on issues of governance, adding that Tinubu is the President of Nigeria and not just the APC.

“Well, the President is the President of Nigeria, not the President of the APC, and we’re talking about governance here,” Makinde said. “So I came to discuss with the President some governance issues, basically,” he stated.
