Gombe gov appoints caretakers for LGs, newly created LCDAs

Governor Muhammadu Yahaya has approved the appointment of interim overseers (caretakers) to manage the affairs of Local Government Areas and the newly created Local Council Development Areas across Gombe State.

The decision follows the expiration of the tenure of the 11 Local Government Executive Council chairmen, creating a temporary administrative gap at the grassroots level.

The Secretary to the Government of Gombe State, Ibrahim Njodi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, noting that the governor’s approval covers both the LGAs and the 13 newly established LCDAs.

“The appointments are aimed at sustaining governance structures and ensuring continuity in service delivery at the grassroots level.

“All appointees were drawn from within their respective LGAs to ensure familiarity with local administrative dynamics and community needs,” Njodi said.

He added that the appointments would take effect from April 24, 2026.

“His Excellency expects the overseers to provide stable and effective leadership during this interim period,” he added.

For the Local Council Development Areas, Lamaran Ahmed was appointed to oversee Akko West LCDA, while Mohammed Ajiya will manage Akko North LCDA.

In Balanga South LCDA, Sarah Danjuma was named overseer, while Gladys Garba will take charge of Billiri West LCDA.

Ahmed Usman was appointed for Dukku North LCDA, with Bappayo Yaya assigned to oversee Funakaye South LCDA.

In Gombe South LCDA, Aishatu Sadiq will serve as overseer, while Ibrahim Gambo will manage Kaltungo East LCDA.

Similarly, Muhammad Abdullahi was appointed for Kwami West LCDA, while Muhammad Kabir will oversee Nafada South LCDA. Saidu Filiya will manage Pero/Chonge LCDA, while Haruna Shehu and Dauda Umar were appointed to oversee Yamaltu/Deba East and Yamaltu/Deba West LCDAs, respectively.

The state government said the move is part of efforts to maintain administrative stability and ensure uninterrupted service delivery at the grassroots level.
