The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has initiated its 10th National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, marking a renewed effort in the nation’s battle against the pandemic.
This latest campaign primarily targets individuals who have yet to receive their COVID-19 vaccination. Scheduled to run from Monday 6 until Thursday, May 9, 2024, it aims to reach as many eligible individuals as possible, with teams deployed to communities and households to facilitate the vaccination process.
In a statement, the GHS emphasized the importance of vaccinating eligible individuals, highlighting the role of community outreach in ensuring broader vaccine coverage.
According to GHS data as of December 31, 2023, a total of 28,515,854 individuals in Ghana had already received their COVID-19 vaccinations, reflecting a substantial effort in vaccinating the population against the virus.
Despite these achievements, the GHS recently reported new cases of COVID-19 infections, underscoring the ongoing threat posed by the virus.
The statement therefore noted that the public, particularly those who have not yet been vaccinated, are strongly urged to avail themselves of the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, thus contributing to the collective effort to curb the spread of the virus and safeguard public health.
