Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested five suspected cultists, Emeka Eke, Chizoba Okolie, Samson Ochonobor, Friday Agbebayo and Julius Eguasa, for engaging in a street fight in Edo State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the suspects alleged to be members of the Eiye Confraternity engaged in street fighting at the Ramat Park area over failure to pay monthly dues and attend meetings of Eiye confraternity.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwanbuzor, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent, said the suspects were arrested for conspiracy and cultism.
He said the suspects, who are members of Eiye Confraternity, were seen fighting at the Ramat Park, Benin and were arrested by the operatives of the Anti-kidnapping and Cybercrime Unit of the command on a patrol.
The PPRO said during interrogation, it was discovered that the suspects were members of Eiye confraternity.
He added, “It was also discovered that four of the suspects, Emeka Eke, Chizoba Okolie, Samson Ochonobor, Friday Abgebayo, were beating Julius Eguasa for failing to attend their meetings and paying monthly dues to the confraternity.
“Our operatives who were on patrol arrested, interrogated them and found out that they are members of Eiye Confraternity.”
Nwabuzor said the suspects were helping the police in their investigation and that they would soon be charged to court.
