Firm’s vice chairman gets gas sector leadership award

The Executive Vice Chairman of ND Western Nigeria Limited, Dr Layi Fatona, has been recognised by the Nigeria Gas Association with the “Excellence in Gas Sector Leadership” Award for his contribution to the country’s oil and gas sector.

In a statement, ND Western Nigeria disclosed that Fatona was awarded the “Excellence in Gas Sector Leadership” at the Nigeria International Energy Summit recently held in Abuja.

Receiving the award on behalf of Fatona, the firm’s Head of Business Planning & Economics, Mr Kingsley Ajie, thanked the NGA for recognising Fatona’s leadership excellence.

“Fatona has indeed paved the way for many of us and it is a great honour for me to be receiving this award in his stead.

“This award is a testament to Fatona’s years of meritorious service, spanning several decades and his immense contribution to the growth of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. It is commendable to see that honour is being given to whom is due. We all are proud to associate with the NGA,” Ajie said.

Fatona, a Petroleum Geologist with more than 40 years of oil industry experience, is the pioneer chairman of Niger Delta Exploration and Production.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from the University of Ibadan in 1973 and obtained both the master of science and doctoral degrees in Petroleum Geology and Sedimentology from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London.
