FG tasks livestock businesses on insurance amid Anthrax outbreak

Amid the raging effects of anthrax disease, the federal government has urged farmers and agriculture businesses to embrace insurance to protect livestock.

The Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC) charged livestock farmers to take agricultural insurance cover as mitigation against the effects of anthrax disease.

Folashade Joseph, the Managing Director of NAIC disclosed this on Saturday.

DAILY POST had reported that Nigeria confirmed its case of Anthrax mid-last month in Niger.

Joseph expressed concern about the anthrax outbreak and its adverse effects on the income of livestock farmers and agriculture businesses.

She said farmers should consider insurance to stem the adverse effects on their businesses.

“This includes taking NAIC’s agricultural insurance cover, which is guaranteed to plough those who suffer losses back to prosperity,” she said.
