A RESIDENT has complained that he’s stuck paying his homeowner’s association over $5,000 annually for a condo with major issues.
The Houston, Texas homeowner stressed that he wished he knew he’d have to pay the fees before buying his condo.

John Seckar pays over $6,000 a year in HOA fees for his two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo, he told local news station ABC13.
The payments are broken down to $550 a month.
He showed the news network that he had shattered glass at his home, holes in the fence and a broken mailroom door.
Seckar said there were also dogs running loose and using the bathroom freely around his property.
“Fecal matter everywhere,” the homeowner stressed.
The Texan expressed that he’s just sick of paying thousands of dollars every year to live in a dump.
“I take care of an older, more disabled brother, so it’s very frustrating and scary, but it’s also a learning opportunity, and boy, have I learned,” Seckar said.
“It’s just sad that there’s no accountability.”
Apparently, the HOA “would rather spend money on repairs and not legal fees,” the board’s attorney told ABC13.
“The complex is maintained as funds allow, and there are currently not enough funds to make all the repairs at once,” the attorney said in a statement.
“Due to Mr. Seckar’s complaint and Channel 13’s investigation, the Board is meeting with our firm to assist and provide guidance.”
He went on to say: “Sadly, however, the more funds spent defending complaints or allegations means less money will be available for needed repairs and maintenance.”
The attorney explained that the Board would “likely not want their firm to provide an interview” for financial reasons.

“We all share the same goals,” the HOA lawyer stated.
“And that is to make all repairs possible. The issue is which repairs to prioritize due to limited funds.”
Seckar said that he wants to make sure others don’t run into the same problems with their own homes as he isn’t the only one in the nation who has serious issues with his HOA.
A homeowner even complained that their HOA feels like a communist state because of how much the association makes residents pay.
“It is my opinion, we the homeowners have no rights in being run by a board of directors, a management company as well as the law,” they stressed.
“Sounds to me like communism where some comrades dictate based on their laws how what is managed which way.”
The homeowner went on to state that homeowners have to pay for the mistakes made by HOAs.
They claimed: “There is no accountability or responsibility for their [the HOA’s] actions.”
