FCT Polls: Why I Stepped Down For APC Candidate In Bwari – Julius Adamu

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Bwari Area Council, Julius Adamu, has revealed why he withdrew from the upcoming Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections.

Naija News reports that he stepped aside for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Joshua Ishaku Musa.

Adamu explained that his decision followed discussions with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

He said he chose to step down to avoid conflict and foster unity, urging his supporters to back Joshua in the election.

“I am standing here before you this afternoon to tell you that I have been in deep consultation with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. And i have come to conclusion that I and Joshua, we are brothers.

“It will not be nice for two brothers to kill themselves over one office. Therefore, I have relinquished my support to Hon Joshua.

“I want to urge all my supporters to support Joshua to win this election,” he said.

The FCT elections, scheduled for Saturday, will cover six area councils, including Bwari, AMAC, Kuje, Kwali, Abaji, and Gwagwalada, with voters set to choose their local leaders.

In other news, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has debunked reports that it is set to transmit the February 21 Federal Capital Territory FCT Area Council elections in “real-time.”

The denial was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, Adedayo Oketola.

According to him, at no point in time did Amupitan promise that the results of the upcoming elections would be transmitted in real time.

He cautioned that using the terminology “real time” is a technical misrepresentation of the established processes of INEC.
