Saidu, who is facing multiple charges including alleged financial misconduct, was taken back into custody after developments during Wednesday’s court proceedings.
Sources familiar with the case said the court ordered his remand pending the continuation of the trial next month.
A source close to the matter confirmed the development to Daily Trust, saying, “It is true that his bail was revoked and he has been remanded.”
The former aide had previously been granted bail after spending about 50 days in detention last year. He was said to have met his bail conditions before regaining his freedom at the time.
Saidu, a known associate of El-Rufai, has remained active in political circles in Kaduna State. He is also said to be involved with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state.
Following the latest development, Saidu is expected to remain in custody until the next hearing of his case.
In other news, the Department of State Services (DSS) has brought El-Rufai before a Federal High Court in Abuja over claims that he accessed a phone conversation belonging to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
Naija News reports that the case was heard on Thursday, where the prosecution told the court that the earlier three-count charge had been reviewed and increased to five counts. Following this update, the court removed the previous charge and replaced it with the new amended one.
The hearing is being handled by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, who presides over the Federal High Court in Abuja.
