EPL: Tottenham warn against racism after Danso incident

Tottenham Hotspur have vowed to take strong action following racist abuse directed at defender, Kevin Danso, after their recent Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.

In a statement on Friday, the club condemned the “abhorrent” messages sent to the player on social media, making it clear that racism of any kind will not be tolerated.

Spurs stressed that they are committed to protecting their players and will pursue the strongest possible measures against individuals found responsible.

“Following the abhorrent racist abuse suffered by Kevin Danso on social media after the Brighton match, the Club is taking a visible stand this weekend.

“We want to make it clear to the world that if anyone thinks it’s ok to racially abuse our players on social media, we will take the strongest possible action,” the club said.

The North London side also signalled plans to take a visible stand during the weekend fixtures, reinforcing their zero-tolerance stance on discrimination and abuse.

Danso, who featured in the match against Brighton, was targeted online shortly after the game, prompting swift condemnation from the club and supporters alike.

Tottenham reiterated that football must remain inclusive and respectful, warning that anyone engaging in racist behaviour, whether inside stadiums or online, will face consequences.

The club added that it will continue to work with relevant authorities and social media platforms to identify offenders and ensure accountability.
