EPL: Man City, Premier League in talks over fixture changes

Manchester City are in discussions with the Premier League over the rearrangement of two fixtures that could have a major impact on the title race run-in.

As reported by BBC Sport on Tuesday, the changes are being considered due to City’s involvement in the FA Cup Final, which has created a scheduling clash during a decisive stage of the season.

Fixture adjustments under review

City’s away match against AFC Bournemouth, originally scheduled for May 17, is expected to be moved after their cup final falls on that day.

Their home fixture against Crystal Palace, which was previously postponed from March, is yet to be given a confirmed date by the Premier League.

Among the options being considered, one proposal would see Crystal Palace visit the Etihad Stadium on May 13, followed by the trip to Bournemouth on May 19. That schedule would place both league games around City’s FA Cup final at Wembley, potentially resulting in a demanding run of three matches in seven days.

Alternative scheduling options

City are understood to be exploring other arrangements as well, including the possibility of playing Bournemouth on May 12 and Crystal Palace on May 19. That scenario would give the squad an extra day of recovery before the cup final and ensure both final league fixtures are played at home.

However, scheduling constraints linked to UEFA competitions mean certain dates remain unavailable, limiting flexibility in finalising the calendar.

Title race implications

The situation is being closely monitored by Arsenal, who remain locked in a tight Premier League title battle with City. Any advantage in rest periods or fixture timing could prove decisive in the closing weeks of the season.
