This was following the defeat of defending champions, Liverpool by Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.
He said that there is no chance Manchester United or Liverpool would win the trophy next season and believes it is Arsenal’s or Manchester City’s to take.
Liverpool’s challenging season faced yet another setback on Sunday as they were beaten 3-2 by their fierce rivals United at Old Trafford.
The Reds managed to recover from a 2-0 deficit, equalizing the match with goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo, only for Kobbie Mainoo to net a 77th-minute winner for Manchester United.
This victory for United secured their position in next season’s Champions League and effectively guaranteed them third place in the Premier League, holding a six-point advantage over fourth-placed Liverpool with three matches left to play.
In the aftermath of the match, Old Trafford icon Gary Neville remarked that Manchester United is not far from being contenders for the Premier League title, stating that it is ‘up for grabs over the next one or two years.’
However, Carragher refuted United’s title aspirations and also excluded Liverpool from the running for the Premier League next season, asserting that the title race will likely be between the current frontrunners, Arsenal and Manchester City.

When asked whether Liverpool or Manchester United is in a more favorable position to claim the Premier League next year, Carragher responded on The Gary Neville podcast, “I still believe Liverpool are better positioned, and the reason I say that is we have witnessed Manchester United’s strongest lineup today.
“Liverpool are lacking three or four key players. They also possess individuals who have previously won major trophies.
“I do not anticipate either team being in contention for the title next season. I still believe it will be Arsenal or Manchester City.
“There is a misleading perception regarding Manchester United, as they have not participated in any European competitions and were eliminated in the first round of both cup tournaments.
“This can create a false impression. Manchester United will finish third this season, but I do not genuinely believe they are the third-best team in the Premier League.”
