ELON Musk has cruelly compared Don Lemon to “Veruca Salt” – the greedy, demanding and spoiled child from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The dig came after X, formerly Twitter, abruptly dropped its commercial partnership with The Don Lemon Show just hours after Lemon interviewed Musk.

Musk posted to X on Friday and said, “Don ‘Veruca Salt’” with a lemon emoji.
Demanding Veruca is known for shouting out demands and saying, “I want it now!”
Lemon originally claimed he felt Musk dropped the deal due to getting too personal and saying he needed better moderation on X that supports free speech during the interview.
However, Musk posted on X following the contract termination and said Lemon’s “approach was basically just ‘CNN, but on social media’”
“Which doesn’t work, as evidenced by the fact that CNN is dying.”
Musk added that Lemon “lacked authenticity.”
Lemon’s representatives also denied claims on Friday that the ex-CNN anchor had “demanded” an extravagant list of accommodations from X as part of the deal to work with the social media company, according to The New York Post.
Musk’s Veruca Salt tweet came just hours after The Post reported the claims.
Lemon’s talent agency, UTA Speakers, and a spokesperson for Lemon, however, have vehemently denied them.
“This is absolute, complete utter nonsense without an iota of truth to it,” Jay Sures, vice chairman at UTA, told The New York Post.
A spokesperson for Lemon told The Post, “There is nothing in your list of demands that you claim Don made of X that is true. Literally nothing.”
Lemon said he thought he and Musk “had a good conversation” following the interview.
He was left shocked by the contract termination.
“Clearly he felt differently. His commitment to a global town square where all questions can be asked and all ideas can be shared seems not to include questions of him from people like me,” Lemon continued.
“This will be just the first of many episodes of The Don Lemon Show. While Elon goes back on his word, I will be doubling down on my commitment to free speech and I cannot wait to get started,” he concluded.
But Musk has now openly shared his dislike of Lemon.
In another tweet from earlier in the day on Friday, Musk said, “Even though I think Don is a pompous fool who spouts nonsense, he is still free to upload his show to X and will receive advertising revenue.”
