In a bid to bolster its revenue generation and ensure transparency, the Ekiti State Revenue Service, EKIRS, has urged banks and Remita to embrace the adoption of a new Central Billing payment system.
During an interactive session held between the Ekiti State Revenue Service and financial institutions in Ado-Ekiti, the Chairman of the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service, Pastor Olaniran Olatona, emphasized the necessity for banks to integrate with the State Central Billing System.
Olatona who reiterated that this move would not only streamline tax payments but also enhance accountability in revenue collection processes said the Central Billing System, represents a digital platform designed to facilitate seamless tax payments, enable payment tracking, and foster smoother business transactions with the state government.
According to his words “We have consistently advocated for non-cash transactions to mitigate leakages and bolster Ekiti’s Internally Generated Revenue,” Pastor Olatona remarked, highlighting the imperative of modernizing processes to achieve these goals.
“We are currently in talks with our consultants to implement USSD payment options, ensuring accessibility for all taxpayers,” he added, underscoring the service’s commitment to inclusivity.
Yusuf Oluwarotimi Azeem, the Regional General Manager of Soft Alliance and Resources Ltd, echoed these sentiments, affirming that collaboration with Ekiti Internal Revenue aligns with international standards.
He emphasized that digital payment software is intricately designed to fortify revenue streams and offer unparalleled convenience to taxpayers.
