Former Nigerian footballers, Augustine Eguavoen and Seyi Olofinjana, have showered praise on the ongoing coaching course organized by the Football Coaches Association of Africa Nations.
FCAAN has acted to fill a huge gap and deficit of football development in Nigeria by organising regular coaching education courses for Nigerian coaches, with the recent being the ongoing FCAAN C and B Advanced Courses in Ivory Health club, Ikeja, Lagos.
The course is aimed at bridging the coaching education gap in Nigeria and has garnered commendations from key figures in Nigerian football.
Traditionally, coaches faced hurdles in obtaining affordable and high-quality training, often resorting to overseas programs burdened by extensive documentation and financial constraints.
In collaboration with the Nigerian Football Federation and Baker University (USA), FCAAN has brought together stakeholders and coaches from various leagues, including the Technical Director of the Nigerian Football Federation, Augustine Eguavoen, who actively participated in the courses.
Eguavoen emphasized the importance of FCAAN’s standard curriculum in enhancing the overall growth of Nigerian football, saying, “Right education will surely have the right impact on Nigerian football.
“We have to encourage everything that is good for the good of our young footballers.”
Former Super Eagles midfielder Olofinjana commended FCAAN for its swift and impactful strides in elevating Nigerian coaches.
“FCAAN is a huge plus to Nigerian football because a good coach sees in you what you don’t see in yourself,” the AFCON bronze medallist said.
Grace Towobola, a UEFA licensed coach and the International Olympic Committee Young Leader for Nigeria, echoed sentiments for a conducive coaching environment, applauding FCAAN’s role in reshaping coaching education in Nigeria.
“Great stuff here, FCAAN surely is repositioning Nigerian football coaching education for greater heights,” Towobola said.
Terry Babatunde Eguaoje, Founder and President of FCAAN, reiterated the organization’s mission to elevate coaching standards, emphasizing the correlation between superior coaching and player development. Eguaoje expressed fervent hopes for a Nigerian coach to someday lead the country to FIFA World Cup glory.
