SHOPPERS are fed up with anti-theft measures in stores, saying they’d rather use a faster alternative to get the things they want.
As retailers continue to fight against theft, some have taken it to the extreme with entire aisles full of products locked behind glass or increased security.

This has led some customers to voice their frustration on social media.
“Do you spend less money in stores that have many things locked up?” wrote one person on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Like Target, Walgreens etc.”
The tweet had a thread filled with hundreds of responses.
“Yes of course,” wrote one person. “I don’t have time to chase around an associate to unlock every item.”
“Absolutely. I needed razor blades, and I live a few blocks from Target, so I talked over,” wrote another person.
“They were locked up, and two other guys were waiting to get stuff out of the case. I looked down at my phone, ordered blades from Amazon, and left the store.”
A third person wrote: “Yup, don’t bother going for those items that are locked up. Usually @Amazon it instead.”
One person said they’d rather just shop somewhere else.
“I’m done with my Target,” wrote another person. “Just too hard to shop there now.”
Another person said they were shopping at Duane Reade but put their items back on the shelf after realizing the 20-ounce sodas they wanted were locked behind glass.
“I am not even gonna bother going into those stores,” a person wrote. “Hire more people to work in the stores to reduce shoplifting.”
The National Retail Federation, the nation’s largest retail trade group, has recently admitted that it’s unclear how much money retailers have lost to organized retail crime.
Organized retail crime is when a group of professional shoplifters works together to steal a large amount of products.
Crime gangs target retailers’ stores and trucks for goods they can resell online such as perfume, cosmetics, toiletries, or even power drills.
Target, Dollar Tree, and Foot Locker have all disclosed recently that organized retail crime is a problem at their stores.
The U.S. Sun have reached out to Target and Walmart for comment.
