THE WEDDING DAY
Their public appearance came after Abby shared snapshots from her 2021 wedding to husband Josh Bowling, 33, in the TikTok carousel post.
In the nearly 15-second clip, the siblings smiled at the camera on their wedding day, their long hair styled in wavy curls.
They wore a white wedding dress alongside Josh, who sported a gray suit.
The caption on the TikTok included the hashtags marriage and love.
The Gabby Barrett song, The Good Ones, played in the background.
RISE TO FAME
In March 1990, Abby and Brittany were born with the rare genetic condition, dicephalic parapagus, at a hospital in the rural Minnesotan town of New Germany.
Each has their own heart, stomach, and pair of lungs, but they share a single body from the waist down, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
In 1996, they appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show and explained how they lived each day together.
Abby has control over their right arm and leg, while Brittany commands the left side.
What are conjoined twins?
CONJOINED twins are two babies who are born physically connected to each other.
They develop when an early embryo only partially separates to form two individuals.
Although two babies develop from this embryo, they remain physically connected – most often at the chest, abdomen or pelvis.
Dicephalic parapagus is a rare form of partial twinning that involves having two heads on one torso.
The twins have a single body and below the waist, all the organs are shared, including the intestine, genitalia and bladder.
Conjoined twins are very rare and occur on average once every 50,000 to 100,000 births.
Most dicephalic twins are stillborn, or die soon after birth.
In 2003, they were then featured in the documentary, Joined For Life.
The twins revealed their future plans as they set out to prove that they were capable of doing everyday tasks — even if they were shared.
“We’re going to be moms,” Brittany shared.
“We just haven’t thought about how being moms is going to work yet.”
After the documentary, cameras followed them around in the TV movie, For Life: Abby And Brittany Turn 16.
“Abby takes over the pedals and the shifter, we both steer, and I take over the blinker and the lights,” Brittany explained how they drove a car.
The twins enrolled at Bethel University and studied for a teaching degree.
They now work as fifth-grade teachers in New Brighton, Minnesota, according to Distractify.
