Chad Daybell ‘will throw Lori Vallow under the bus at trial,’ victim’s aunt says & blasts doomsday author as real zombie

DELUDED Doomsday author Chad Daybell will stoop to the lowest lows to throw his wife Lori Vallow under the bus and pin the murders of her children and his wife solely on her, a victim’s relative believes.

Daybell, 55, is currently on trial for the murders of his late wife Tammy Daybell, 49, and Lori’s two children, Joshua “JJ” Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 16, who were all believed to have been killed in late 2019.

JJ and Tylee vanished days apart in September 2019 and their remains were found buried in Daybell’s backyard in Rexburg, Idaho, the following June.

Seventeen days after JJ was last seen alive, Tammy Daybell died suddenly in her sleep.

She was initially ruled to have died from natural causes but an autopsy later determined she’d been asphyxiated.

Within weeks, Vallow and Daybell discreetly tied the knot in Hawaii.

Vallow was tried separately for the killings of JJ, Tylee, and Tammy last year at the request of Daybell’s attorneys.

The so-called cult mom, 50, was convicted of all counts and sentenced to life behind bars without the possibility of parole.

During opening statements on Wednesday, the prosecution accused Daybell and Vallow of crafting an alternate reality with bizarre religious scripture and delusions of an impending apocalypse to justify murder in pursuit of their desire for “money, sex, and power.”

Anyone who stood in the fanatical couple’s way was deemed a “dark” spirit or “zombie” and therefore needed to be vanquished.

“This narrative gave them the pretext to remove people from this world for their own good,” prosecutor Rob Wood told the court.

Daybell’s defense attorney, John Prior, meanwhile, argued there is no evidence to prove Tammy Daybell was murdered or that Chad – a former grave digger – played any role in burying Tylee and JJ on his property in Idaho.

Prior described his client as an ordinary man who was living a normal life, publishing apocalyptic novels for Mormons, until he met Vallow at a religious conference in 2018.

“She pursued him. She encouraged him,” Prior said, adding that the pair eventually had an affair while they were both still married to other people.

JJ Vallow’s aunt, Kresha Easton, told The U.S. Sun she believes Daybells’ tactic throughout his 10-week trial will be to shift the blame for the killings solely on Lori, painting her as a deranged vixen who hoodwinked him into her murderous orbit.

“He’s been throwing her under the bus since all this started,” said Kresha.

“I remember his attorney, at a preliminary hearing in August 2020 a month after the kids were found, he was referring to Lori as ‘Ms. Vallow’ and not Mrs. Daybell-Vallow or Mrs. Daybell, aside from the occasional slip-up.

“So he’s been trying to distance himself from her and back away for some time […] But this idea of creating separation has become more and more apparent over the years while watching the court hearings, and hearing the arguments made by his attorneys.

“So I expect more of that in the weeks ahead.”

‘HE’S THE REAL ZOMBIE’

Kresha was present in the courtroom throughout the majority of Lori’s trial last May.

For Chad’s trial, she has decided to stay home in Louisiana and watch the proceedings unfold via livestream.

Kresha says she is “disgusted” each and every time she catches a glimpse of Chad in the courtroom but is glad he is finally facing judgment after such a long wait.

The grieving aunt said she believes there is no low Daybell won’t stoop to in an effort to avoid culpability.

“There’s going to be a lot of denial and projection” from Chad, Kresha predicted.

“I mean, whatever they are blaming and accusing other people of they’re actually guilty of themselves.

“I mean, look at the whole zombie thing, light and dark. They were judging the light/darkness of other people but it was them who were allegedly doing nefarious and egregious crimes, especially against children and unsuspecting spouses.

“With Tammy, she married Chad and committed her life to being his wife, to being a mother to their five children, and to picking up the slack on everything and being the breadwinner. She carried the entire family so he could go off and write his books.

“There are stories from Tammy’s friends where I’ve been told, that a few weeks before she was murdered, the soles of her tennis shoes were worn so thin, almost through.

“She was working her a** off while her husband, who was meant to be this priest, this godly person who’s elevated in their church, is texting Lori calling Tammy a warden and a dark spirit that needs to be vanquished.

“It’s just pure evil,” continued Kresha. “I’m just glad he’s in the hot seat now.

“I hope it’s really hot; I hope he wiggles and hisses – I’ve heard that’s what demons do once you back them into a corner.”

SETTING THE TONE

During Wednesday’s trial opener, Prior argued to the court that Daybell’s religious beliefs are not radical but in keeping with mainstream beliefs within Mormonism.

He argued that Daybell lived a normal, faith-focused life before he met Vallow, whom Prior described as a “beautiful, vivacious person” who lured Daybell into an extramarital relationship.

Prior also promised to present to the jury several experts in DNA, forensics, and pathology who would testify that it’s impossible to determine what caused Tammy Daybell’s death and that none of Chad’s DNA was found with the children’s bodies – despite being buried on his property.

Some of Chad and Tammy Daybell’s adult children will also testify, Prior said, about how Tammy was suffering from several ailments but refused to see a doctor and instead opted to treat her illnesses with herbs and oils at home.

“What’s important are facts and evidence,” Prior told the jury.

“Don’t be distracted by speculation, don’t be distracted by guesses or suspicions or hunches. It all comes down to facts and evidence.”

DOOMSDAY MURDERS

The twisted Lori Vallow-Chad Daybell saga began in July 2019 when Lori’s fourth husband, Charles Vallow, was shot dead by her brother, Alex Cox.

While Cox initially claimed self-defense, telling police Charles had attacked him with a baseball bat, investigators now believe Charles was murdered by Cox at the direction of Lori, who by this time was already having an affair with her soon-to-be fifth husband, Chad.

A string of strange happenings and sudden deaths would follow in the wake of Charles’s.

On September 8, JJ’s older half-sister, Tylee Ryan, vanished after a family trip to Yellowstone National Park.

JJ’s disappearance would follow two weeks later, on September 22.

He was last seen by friends of the family sleeping in the arms of his uncle Alex in Rexburg, Idaho.

When the friends asked to see the boy the next morning, Lori reportedly told them that JJ was “being a zombie” and that Cox had to take him away.

Then, by mid-October, Chad Daybell’s wife of 30 years, Tammy Daybell, died suddenly in her sleep.

Within two weeks, Lori and Chad tied the knot in Hawaii – and there was no sign of JJ or Tylee at the beach-front ceremony.

JJ was reported missing by Kresha’s mom, Kay Woodcock, on November 26.

Investigators soon realized that Tylee was missing too.

As the search to find them continued, investigators grew increasingly suspicious of Tammy’s death and decided to exhume her body that December, ruling she’d likely died from asphyxiation.

Days later, Alex Cox was found dead at his home in Arizona.

His death was deemed to be from natural causes, however, the overdose drug Narcan was also found in his system.

Months would pass without answers as to where JJ and Tylee were.

Then, on June 9, 2020, a horrific discovery would be made in the backyard of Daybell’s home in Rexburg, Idaho.

I can’t wait for the moment they read out that guilty verdict.”

JJ’s body was found in a shallow grave wrapped in plastic bags and duct tape.

During Lori’s trial, jurors heard how the 7-year-old – who was autistic – was suffocated to death by a plastic bag taped around his head.

Marks on the boy’s fingers and neck implied that he had attempted to fight back during his last gasps of life, witness experts testified.

Tylee, meanwhile, had been dismembered and burned. Her remains were barely recognizable.

Parts of the 16-year-old were packed in a melted green bucket and disbursed at various locations on Daybell’s property. She’s believed to have been dismembered with a pickaxe.

‘JUDGEMENT DAY’

Kresha said hearing the horrific circumstances in which her nephew’s young life was brought to a tragic and abrupt end was soul-shattering for her and her family.

While insisting the wounds of losing JJ have never closed, she and her family feel more prepared this time around to cope with the emotional tribulations that come with a murder trial.

“I can’t wait for the moment they read out that guilty verdict,” said a confident Kresha.

“I just want to see the fall of Chad Daybell. And I want to see him to be seen as small as I see him when I look at him with my eyes.

“There’s no doubt in my mind he will be found guilty and I look forward to the day reality, accountability, and repercussions all come crashing down on him.

“This is his judgment day.”

Chad has pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder, insurance fraud, and conspiracy to commit murder and grand theft.

Prosecutors will seek the death penalty if he’s convicted.
