The Benue State Government has announced the death of the state Head of Service, Agbogbo Ode.

Naija News reports that Ode died on Saturday after a brief illness.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Serumun Deborah, on Saturday.
Deborah described the late Head of Service as a seasoned technocrat and respected authority in public service. She said his sudden death was a significant loss to the state.
According to the statement, Ode was widely respected for his credibility, dedication and contributions to the development and efficiency of the Benue State Civil Service.
The SSG said Ode’s tenure was defined by hard work, professionalism and commitment to institutional excellence.
The government extended its condolences to his family, friends, associates and the entire civil service community in the state.
It also prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul.
In other news, the German government has reaffirmed its commitment to support ing Nigeria in tackling insecurity and fostering peaceful coexistence, following a call for urgent government protection and humanitarian assistance by residents of the Yelwata community in Benue State after their experience from last year’s deadly attack.

Naija News reports that Germany’s Federal Government Commissioner for Freedom of Religion or Belief, Thomas Rachel, made this known on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, during a press briefing in Abuja after a fact-finding visit to affected communities and internally displaced persons camps.
Rachel described his visit to Yelwata as deeply emotional, revealing that survivors of the June 2025 massacre, which claimed over 200 lives, are still grappling with fear and uncertainty about their future.
