“It is with both profound sorrow and divine peace that we announce Dr. Jerry Savelle, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, pastor, mentor, and resolute friend, has stepped into his eternal reward this day, Monday, April 15, 2024,” the church said.

A cause of death was not immediately disclosed.

Fellow evangelist Jesse Duplantis remembered Savelle as his “true brother.”

“I’d like to make an announcement that my best friend, a man of God, a true general of the Lord, Dr. Jerry Savelle has transitioned into Heaven,” Duplantis wrote in an X, formerly Twitter, post.

“What a blessing of God he was! I considered him my personal brother.

“We were so close that you couldn’t put a razor blade between us. We talked and had such wonderful times together about the Word of God, about fellowship, and riding motorcycles — you name it, we did it as two true blood brothers.

“What I can say is that God has gained a phenomenal man in the eternity of eternities. He’s such a blessing of the Lord.”

Duplantis continued, “Yes, we miss him, but we will not grieve because Jesus bore our grief and took our sorrow.

“That’s what Jerry Savelle would say! And I will say this: I will miss him and I will think of him every day that I’m on this planet.

“Oh, Lord. Thank You, Lord, that You put Jerry Savelle in my life. He was my friend, he was my preaching buddy — we were all buddies together — but above all, he was a true brother to me.

“We will miss him, but like I said, we will not grieve because we stay with the Word. We know what the Word says about this.

“So, Jerry, if you can hear this, Congratulations! You are now in the great presence of God Almighty.

“So, get everybody ready, and do the work that you’re going to do in the eternity of eternities. Love you, brother! See you soon. – Jesse.”

EARLY BEGINNINGS

Before he gave his life to Christ in February 1969, Dr. Jerry Savelle worked as an autobody repairman.

He was the owner of a paint and body shop before he transformed his life by entering the ministry.

During his early days in the ministry, Savelle studied and traveled under fellow televangelist Kenneth Copeland.

Copeland remembered Savelle in a Facebook post, “Jerry and I have been praying together for over 55 years.

“We have never had a cross word between us. Our families are intertwined with each other. He was my first preaching partner, other than Gloria,” he said, mentioning his wife, Gloria Copeland.

“He began in this ministry by driving me to my meetings, setting up the equipment and making the tapes. His first assignment was during the Jesus Revolution.

Savelle has written over 70 books and preached in over 3,000 churches.

His ministry has offices in several countries, including the US, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.

He also had weekly broadcasts on his website and the Daystar Television Network.
