Uzokwe who appeared as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today said part of the reasons he left the ADC alongside Peter Obi was that the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar had claimed ownership and total control of the coalition party.

The lawmaker who represents Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency said Atiku was not ready to see reasons why the ADC’s presidential ticket should be zoned to the Southern region of the country.

“We left ADC because His Excellency Atiku Abubakar said that the coalition was formed in his house. That ADC is his party and nobody will tell him anything.

“We went to him and said, “Can you step down and leave Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi and others to go into primaries. Let Atiku say he is stepping down for Rotimi Amaechi and Peter Obi and that he has conceded to the South,” Uzokwe said.

He boasted that Obi had a greater political influence than all the presidential aspirants within the ADC.

According to Uzokwe, if the ADC had zoned its presidential candidature to the South, Obi would have emerged as the party’s flagbearer for the forthcoming polls.

Also addressing controversies surrounding the formation of the coalition, Uzokee claimed that several lawmakers were consulted across the states of the country

“Even the Kwankwasiyya Movement conceded to the South and what you’ll hear people say is that, Kwankwaso cannot win any other state aside from Kano.

The lawmaker urged Nigerians and leaders of various political formations to desist from attacking the former governor of Anambra state for dumping the ADC for the NDC.
