Alves pays bail, can leave Spanish jail – Court

Former Brazil international footballer, Dani Alves, convicted of rape in Spain in February, has paid his bail of one million euros and can leave jail pending his appeal, a court said Monday.

“We hereby inform you that the deposit of Daniel Alves’ bail has been registered in the accounts of the 21st section of the Barcelona Court,” said a statement.

Alves is to be released from jail pending an appeal against his rape conviction in exchange for posting bail of one million euros ($1.08 million), a Barcelona court said last Wednesday.

A Spanish court on February 22 found the ex-Barcelona star, Alves guilty of raping a woman in a Barcelona nightclub, BBC reported.
