ADC members in Yobe back alignment with APC ahead of 2027

Members of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, across the 17 Local Government Areas of Yobe have resolved to align with the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2027 elections.

Prof. Muhammad Jawa, Chairman of ADC in Yobe, disclosed this at a meeting of party stakeholders and members on Saturday in Damaturu.

Mr Jawa, who is also the Founder and National Coordinator of the Arewa Strategic Implementation Group for Atiku, ASIGA, said the decision followed consultations among stakeholders across the state.

He said the stakeholders had unanimously called on him to lead the political realignment from ADC to APC in the interest of unity and political stability.

“I am pleased to acknowledge and accept your call for strategic political alignment with the APC,” he said.

Mr Jawa said the decision was driven by patriotism, political foresight and commitment to the unity and progress of the country.

He said the movement would commence consultations and peaceful engagements toward supporting the APC administration and the political vision of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The ADC chairman also commended Gov. Mai Mala Buni for what he described as efforts in promoting peace, infrastructure development, youth empowerment and inclusive governance in the state.

He equally acknowledged the role of the Minister of Police Affairs, Sen. Ibrahim Gaidam, in sustaining political unity and continuity in Yobe.

Mr Jawa further expressed support for the emergence of Baba Malam Wali as preferred successor for the 2027 governorship project in the state.

He urged members of the movement to remain peaceful, disciplined and united during the transition process.

Earlier, Abubakar Garzali, State Leader of Yobe ADC United from the 17 LGAs, said stakeholders across the state had resolved to support the political transition to APC.

Mr Garzali said Mr Jawa provided leadership, grassroots mobilisation and political coordination that strengthened the ADC structure in Yobe during the 2023 political transition period.

He said members believed alignment with APC would enhance political stability and continuity of development in the state.

Also speaking, the State Coordinator of ASIGA in Yobe said members of the group resolved to support President Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda through the proposed alignment with APC.

The coordinator said the decision reflected the collective position of stakeholders and members of the movement in the state.
