Oyo’ll continue to strengthen security – Makinde

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has said that his administration will continue to prioritise security and strengthen the state’s security architecture to sustain ongoing economic development.

The governor stated this at a dinner organised in honour of members of Syndicate 5 of Executive Intelligence Management Course 19 of the National Institute for Security Studies, held at the Local Government Training School Hall, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, on Saturday.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olarenwaju, issued in Ibadan on Sunday, the governor was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government, Musibau Babatunde.

He said, “Effective collaboration and synergy among security agencies have been instrumental in sustaining peace and safeguarding the lives and property of the people in the state.

“The current administration in Oyo will continue to prioritise security and strengthen the security architecture to ensure that the ongoing economic development in the state is sustained,” the governor said.

Makinde thanked the team for choosing the state for their study tour and commended them for their outstanding performance during their visit.

Earlier, the Syndicate Supervisor, Julius Obukohwa, said the visit had contributed immensely to the group’s knowledge of governance, security issues, and environmental safety.

He lauded Makinde’s administration for supporting security agencies in the state with adequate equipment to enhance their performance and tackle crime and insecurity.

In separate goodwill messages, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, represented by Oba Mobolaji Adewoyin; the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security Coordination, Major Gen. Lukman Omoniyi (retd.); and the Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Wole Akinleye, congratulated Syndicate 5 on the successful completion of their study tour.

They charged members to make judicious use of the knowledge acquired to improve the security sector.

Dignitaries at the event included the Head of Service, Olubunmi Oni; Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Williams Akin-Funmilayo; Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Oyebola; Chairman of Ilaji Group, Dotun Sanusi; permanent secretaries, service commanders, and religious leaders, among others.
