FRSC secures convictions of 25 traffic offenders in Ogun

The Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Sector Command, on Wednesday secured the conviction of 25 traffic offenders during a mobile court sitting held at the command headquarters.

The court proceedings, according to a statement from the spokesperson of the state sector command, Afolabi Odunsi-Oyewole, were presided over by Her Worship, Chief Magistrate O.T. Odubanjo.

Odunsi-Oyewole said that the focus of the mobile court was to enforce road discipline and curb critical safety violations across major operational corridors in the state.

He explained, “A total of 25 traffic offenders were arraigned for 46 offences, and a total of 25 convictions was recorded.

“The 46 documented offences primarily involved critical safety breaches, including: Speed Limit Device (SLD) and Driver’s Licence (DLV) violations; overloading (OVL) and seatbelt (SUV) infractions; vehicle licence (VLV) and number plate (NPV). No offender was sentenced to imprisonment.”

The Corps Commander, Oludare Ogunjobi, emphasised that the mobile court exercise remains a vital component of the command’s sustained enforcement strategy to reduce road traffic crashes and fatalities.

Ogunjobi added that the zero-discharge rate underscores the precision of the FRSC’s enforcement and the court’s commitment to holding traffic violators accountable.

He said the exercise serves as a stern reminder to motorists that the command remains vigilant in its “Zero Tolerance” approach to road traffic infractions to ensure the safety of lives and property.
