Brigadier General Friday Onu has assumed duty as the 14th Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Alamala, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

He takes over from Brigadier General Godwin Nwamba during a handing-over ceremony held at the Brigade Headquarters, Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations of the Brigade, Major Idereghi Samuel Akari, it was confirmed that Nwamba has been redeployed to Army Headquarters, Department of Civil-Military Affairs, where he will serve as Acting Deputy Chief of Civil-Military Affairs (Psychological Operations).
In his farewell remarks, the outgoing Commander thanked officers and soldiers of the Brigade for their support throughout his tenure.
He said their commitment and professionalism contributed significantly to the successes recorded under his leadership, and urged personnel to extend the same cooperation to his successor.
Speaking at the ceremony, Brigadier General Onu commended his predecessor for what he described as remarkable developmental strides achieved during his time in office.

He also congratulated him on his new appointment and wished him success in his future assignment.
Onu charged officers and soldiers of the Brigade to remain dedicated to duty and uphold the highest standards of professionalism.
He emphasised the importance of prioritising soldiers’ welfare and called for the loyalty, support and cooperation of personnel to advance the Brigade’s operational effectiveness.
Highlights of the ceremony included the signing of the handing and taking over notes, transfer of the insignia of command, an address to troops, a Quarter Guard parade, and a group photograph.
