21 vessels discharge fuel, food items at Lagos ports – NPA

The Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, has reported that 21 vessels are currently offloading petroleum products and other cargoes at major ports in Lagos.

The disclosure was contained in the authority’s daily Shipping Position bulletin released to journalists in Lagos on Saturday.

According to the NPA, the vessels are discharging their consignments at the Apapa, Lekki and Tin Can Island ports.

The shipments include aviation fuel, premium motor spirit (petrol), diesel, bulk gas, cargo trucks and bulk wheat.

Other consignments being handled comprise bulk alkaline materials, general cargo, sugar, fresh fish, soya bean oil, clinker and containerised goods.

The authority revealed that 41 more vessels carrying petroleum products, food items and assorted goods are scheduled to arrive at the Lagos ports between February 28 and March 7.

The expected arrivals, the NPA said, will convey general cargo, bulk wheat, sugar, crude oil, fertiliser, salt, containerised goods and petrol.

Meanwhile, 17 vessels laden with commodities such as bulk urea, diesel, aviation fuel, crude oil, ethanol, bulk wheat, general cargo and bulk pallets have already arrived and are currently awaiting berthing at the ports.
