2024 CHAN May Suffer Postponement As Nigeria Reign Supreme At BAL

By Victor Kanayo

Reports from Cairo, Egypt indicates that the 2024 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) is most likely going to be postponed.

This followed the inability of the organisers, Confederation of African Football (CAF) to stage the qualifiers prior to the competition later this year.

Already, the hosting right of the competition has been awarded to the trio of Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya as a dress rehearsal for the 2027 African Cup of Nations.

With the qualifier yet to kick off, the football body is nursing the ambition of shifting the tournament to 2025 as the 2025 AFCON is likely to take place in the winter of 2026.

The last edition of CHAN was held in Algeria, and Senegal emerged as the winner.

Nigeria didn’t qualify for the last edition.

Meanwhile, Nigeria have won its second match against Rwanda APR at the ongoing Basketball Africa League (BAL).

Despite being defending champions, APR lost 82-86 to Nigeria.
