Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has said his administration is steadily laying the foundation for a new Edo State, where residents will enjoy good governance powered by massive infrastructural development and economic growth.
Naija News reports that Okpebholo stated this on Thursday while addressing journalists after an inspection tour of several ongoing road and drainage projects across Edo South Senatorial District.

Okpebholo expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work on the projects, singling out Sapele Road and adjoining corridors for commendation.
According to him, the visible transformation in the area shows that his administration is committed to changing the development narrative of the state.
“We have gone round inspecting so many projects today, and the jobs are in progress. I am very impressed with the projects monitored so far, especially the ones at Sapele Road,” the governor said.

“If you visit Sapele Road, you will know that this administration has really worked in that axis.”
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Patrick Akhere Ebojele, disclosed that Okpebholo, accompanied by the Special Adviser on Projects Implementation and Monitoring, Engr. Phoebe Williams-Bello inspected projects in several communities.
These include Evbhukhu, Amagba, Ohoghobi, Oghehe, Old Sapele Road, Sapele Road Bypass, Uhie Road, Okhabere, the flyover bridge at Adesuwa Junction, Charismatic Renewal Road, Ugbiyoko, Oghede Upper Ekenhuan Road, among others.

The statement noted that the governor has maintained a pattern of unannounced inspection visits, a strategy aimed at keeping contractors on their toes and ensuring strict compliance with approved designs, construction standards and project delivery timelines.
“Our administration is changing things in Edo State as we experience growth and development across the state,” Okpebholo added.
At Charismatic Renewal Road, the governor observed significant improvement in the quality of work compared to his previous visit.

“Looking at the Charismatic Renewal Road today, work has greatly improved compared to the last time we came. I am so impressed,” he said.
Reaffirming his commitment to improving the lives of Edo residents, Okpebholo said the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was already yielding results in the state.
“The renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is manifesting here in Edo State, and we are building on it to give Edo people a better and improved life,” the governor said.

The governor reiterated his pledge to turn Edo State into a massive construction site, noting that his administration is delivering on that promise through extensive road and drainage projects across the three senatorial districts.
He explained that the projects are designed to open up communities, improve connectivity, stimulate economic activities and bring governance closer to the people.
According to him, the focus remains on delivering practical, people-centred development that touches the everyday lives of Edo residents and lays a strong foundation for sustainable growth.
