Nigeria’s Flamingos crashed out of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after a 2-0 loss to USA in their quarter-final clash in Santiago.
Bankole Olowookere’s side won all three group games, scoring nine goals and conceding only once.
The West Africans however found the Americans too difficult to handle.
The Flamingos started the game brightly but fizzled out afterwards.
Kennedy Fuller gave USA the lead from the penalty spot three minutes before the break.
The Americans put the game beyond the Nigerian girls with Kimmi Ascanio scoring the second in the 73rd minute.
USA gained revenge for the defeat to Nigeria at the same stage of the competition two years ago in India.
It’s the first time they have advanced to the semi-finals since 2008.
