Transfer: Arteta reveals final decision on Partey leaving Arsenal

Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has said that midfielder Thomas Partey will stay put at the club this summer.

This is despite the arrival of Declan Rice, who plays exactly in the Ghanaian position.

Partey has been linked with a move away from Arsenal, with Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli a possible destination.

However, Arteta said the former Atletico Madrid man remains a key part of his plans.

Arteta addressed the press ahead of Arsenal’s preseason friendly against Manchester United on Saturday.

“Without a question of a doubt, Thomas Partey is a super important player for us and for me. I want him to be in the team.

“Every time I spoke to him and every time I have a conversation with him, his will is to stay with us. For me, there’s nothing there at all.

“They [Partey and Rice] can play together and that was in my plans.

“You want to improve the squad and have more quality,” he said.
