Former Nigeria international, Ifeanyi Udeze, has disagreed with Nigeria’s Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, over his recent comments about his team.
Peseiro had during his post-match press conference, said that the Super Eagles created plenty of ‘chances’ during his team’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifier return leg 1-0 win against Guinea-Bissau on Monday evening.
Recall that the Super Eagles won the match 1-0, having lost the reverse fixture in Abuja with the same scoreline.
Moses Simon netted the match’s only goal via a penalty as Nigeria defeated Guinea Bissau at the Estádio 24 de Setembro.
Reacting to Peseiro’s post-match interview and the game, Udeze insisted that the Super Eagles didn’t create enough chances over the two legs.
“Jose Peseiro said we created a lot of opportunities, but I did not see the opportunities. The thing is, we are happy we won the game, but Peseiro must find solutions to the problems in the team so that the players will start to play good football and also create chances,” Udeze told BrilaFM.
“Whoever told Peseiro that the Eagles created chances? For me, I did not see the chances.”
The outcome of the game means Nigeria are now on top of Group A with nine points from four games, while Guinea-Bissau sits in second position with seven points.
