On Monday, a suicide bomber attacked a military camp in Mogadishu, killing at least 20 Somali soldiers.

The attack took place at the Jaalle Siyad Military Academy and has been claimed by Al-Shabaab, an al-Qaeda-linked terrorist organization.

A member of the Somali parliament reported that the victims were soldiers who were defending their country against terrorists.

Witnesses claim that the suicide bomber entered the base where the 14th infantry brigade was about to begin a refresher course and detonated its explosive vest.

Al-Shabaab has been waging a bloody insurgency against the Somali government since 2007, and despite being driven out of Mogadishu in 2011, the group remains a formidable force.

The group still controls large swathes of Somali territory and continues to carry out deadly attacks against civilian, political, and military targets.
