Prof. Gwarzo mourns founder of Wigwe University, Herbert Wigwe

The President MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Gwarzo, has expressed deep shock over the passing away of the founder of Wigwe University, Herbert Wigwe, his wife and son.

The trio died in a helicopter crash on Saturday in the United States of America.

In a condolence message he personally signed and made available to journalists in Kano on Sunday, Mr Gwarzo expressed his deepest and heartfelt condolences to the management of Wigwe University, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, over the incident.

He described the death of Mr Wigwe who was also the chief executive officer of Access Holdings Plc, as a colossal loss to Wigwe university.

Mr Gwarzo said the death of the 57-year-old business tycoon and philanthropist was also a great loss to the banking industry and education sector.

“The Founder of Wigwe University and Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, Mr Herbert Wigwe was a consummate banker, education promoter, and above all a philanthropist,” Mr Gwarzo said.

He used the occasion to commiserate with the Wigwe family, Access Bank Group employees and Management over the death of the business mogul.

Mr Gwarzo noted that Mr Wigwe would continue to be remembered by Nigerians for his immense contribution to the banking and education sectors in the country.

“So, on behalf of myself and Maryam Abacha American University conglomerate, I wish to extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to Wigwe university, Access Bank Plc as well as his friends and associates,” Mr Gwarzo added.
