President Tinubu Inaugurates Anambra State Govt House, Emeka Anyaoku Institute at UNIZIK

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, marked a historic milestone in Anambra State today as he inaugurated the state’s first-ever Government House and the Emeka Anyaoku Institute of International Studies and Diplomacy at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka.

The high-profile visit, which also saw the commissioning of other landmark projects, underscored the developmental strides of the Chukwuma Soludo-led administration and highlighted federal support for Anambra’s progress.

The newly completed Government House, a state-of-the-art administrative complex, symbolizes a new era of efficient governance in Anambra.

Described as a beacon of modernity, it is equipped to serve as the administrative hub for the state’s operations.

Alongside it, the Emeka Anyaoku Institute, named after the renowned Nigerian diplomat and former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, is set to become a premier center for advanced learning in international studies and diplomacy.

The institute, under UNIZIK’s auspices, will offer postgraduate programs and foster research to promote global peace and diplomatic excellence.

President Tinubu’s visit, announced by Governor Soludo during the 2025 Workers’ Day celebration, also included the inauguration of other key projects: Solution FunCity, a modern recreational hub housing the Anambra Country Club, a Family Fun House, a Water Park, and an Amusement Park; the New Government Lodge; the Presidential Lodge; and the “Iconic Light of the Nation Tower,” a symbolic structure at the Government House constructed by Dutum Construction Ltd.

These projects align with Soludo’s “Solution Agenda,” aimed at transforming Anambra into a prosperous, livable smart megacity.

Speaking at the event, President Tinubu commended Governor Soludo’s vision and leadership, noting that the projects reflect a commitment to progress and partnership between the federal and state governments.

“These initiatives are a testament to what we can achieve when we work together for the common good,” Tinubu said, urging residents to continue supporting the administration’s developmental efforts.

Governor Soludo, in his address, described the President’s visit as a “strong validation” of Anambra’s development strides. “This is proof that our administration is forging a partnership that works for the benefit of Ndi Anambra,” he stated, calling for a warm reception for the President.

He highlighted the Emeka Anyaoku Institute as a tribute to a global citizen whose contributions to diplomacy and Anambra’s pride remain unparalleled.

Chief Emeka Anyaoku, present at the commissioning, expressed gratitude for the honor and emphasized the institute’s potential to elevate Nigeria’s global standing. “This institute will nurture future leaders in diplomacy and contribute to winning respect for Nigeria and Africa on the world stage,” he said.

Security was heightened across Awka to ensure a smooth visit, with slight adjustments to traffic flow managed by state authorities. Residents complied with directives, demonstrating their excitement for the historic occasion.

The commissioning events drew dignitaries, including federal and state officials, traditional leaders, and academic representatives from UNIZIK.

The Emeka Anyaoku Institute, launched in 2017 but revitalized with this commissioning, is poised to become a cornerstone of academic and diplomatic discourse.

UNIZIK’s Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph I. Ikechebelu, noted that the institute’s completion marks a renewed commitment to fostering international peace and scholarship.
