The National Universities Commission has accredited eight undergraduate and two postgraduate courses for Wellspring University, Benin, Edo State.
The vice chancellor of the university, Prof. Isaac Ajayi, who disclosed this at the weekend, also said the school had got approval to run other courses pending accreditation.
Ajayi expressed confidence that with the latest accreditation exercise, Wellspring University was on its way to becoming a world-class citadel of learning.
He said, “It is with tremendous joy that I announce to the world that, having satisfied all requirements, the NUC has given fresh accreditation to two of our postgraduate courses (accounting and business administration) and eight undergraduate courses.
“I am also pleased to inform you that the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria has also accredited our undergraduate accounting programme, which makes it quite easy for our graduands to become recognised chartered accountants shortly after their graduation or even while they are still students in the university.”
The newly accredited undergraduate courses, according to Ajayi, are nursing science, medical laboratory science, accounting, business administration, economics, international relations, computer science, and mass communication.
The VC also noted the university got NUC’s nod for the commencement of public health, criminology and security studies, and human resource management with effect from the 2022/2023 academic session which took off in October 2022.
